HELLENIC AMERICAN ACADEMY HONORS MOTHERS AT GALA
"Mothers: Dedicating their Hearts, Nurturing our Minds" is the theme of the Hellenic American Academy's Spring Gala. This year the Gala will be on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the Evanston Golf Club in Skokie, Illinois. (click here for a map and directions)
The Hellenic American Academy is a unique private elementary school offering high academic standards in a dual language, Orthodox Christian learning environment with a focus on Hellenic culture and ideals.
Mothers are the first teachers. They lay the foundation for all future learning. The program at the Gala includes musical and theatrical performances by the students and teachers honoring their mothers. Music for the evening will be provided by Apollo Sounds, featuring Dimitris Marinos on the bouzouki. Special guest speaker Polyvios Margias from Athens, Greece will discuss the role of the mother in Homeric times. A silent auction featuring some unique items will also be held. A fun evening of Homeric proportions is planned!
The Academy is affiliated with Holy Trinity Hellenic Orthodox Church in Chicago, Illinois. The Socrates Day School, founded in 1908, is part of the Academy and is remembered fondly by alumni all over the US.
